This chart belongs to no one: there is no moment at which the sky looked like this. It is an average, not an observation, and that is the first thing to know about it.
Midpoints are ambiguous
Between two points on a circle there are always two midpoints, directly opposite each other. Astrae consistently takes the nearer one, so the same two charts always give the same composite.
Why it is used anyway
Tradition reads it as the chart of the connection itself. Anyone who finds that a step too far has enough in synastry, which stays with what actually stood in the sky.
