My astrology / Your observatory
Houses
Twelve sectors around your birthplace, and where their boundaries fall.
Your house cusps
Birth time unknown: positions are calculated for noon. Houses and the ascendant are not shown. The Moon, its sign and its aspects can change during the day.
You have no chart yet
From your date, time and place of birth Astrae calculates these values. It takes a few seconds and needs no account.

What a house is
The twelve signs divide the zodiac; the twelve houses divide the sky around the place you were born. The first begins at the Ascendant: the point rising on the eastern horizon at that moment.
The four angles
Ascendant and Descendant lie on the horizon, Midheaven and IC on the meridian. They are the only four that stay the same in every house system -- all other boundaries shift with the division you choose.
Why time matters
Four minutes of difference in birth time shifts the Ascendant by about a degree. An unknown birth hour leaves the signs usable and the houses unreliable; that is not a detail but half the story.
